A vital part of the Life Care program is to create individual care plans which provide a comprehensive approach to meeting residents’ needs. Care plans are revised regularly to ensure they continue to meet the mental, spiritual and physical well-being needs of each of the residents. Care plans are devised by registered nurses and various other medical professionals where required. The nurses are on hand to provide care 24 hours a day and to establish special relationships with residents’. This ensures the atmosphere at the aged care residence in Heathmont is always friendly and respectful. They also have various visiting allied health services for physiotherapy, podiatry, a dietitian, dentistry work, wound care and speech therapy that visit our home frequently.
Meals are prepared and cooked daily at the on-site kitchen overseen by a qualified chef using only the freshest ingredients. The home style meals with varied selections make for a calm and happy environment making each and every day a pleasure for residents’ to enjoy their culinary experience. A qualified dietitian ensures that the specific and ever changing needs of residents are nutritionally met. The chef and staff are more than willing to cater for religious and cultural requirements in a respectful manner. Special requests, celebrations and any other special occasions are all satisfied by our catering team. Whilst residents are encouraged to eat in the dining room to socialise with others, a tray service is available for those who prefer to eat in the privacy of their own room.
Residents may choose various different activities to fill their day, there is a beautiful courtyard to relax in whilst listening to the abundance of native birds singing in the gardens. There are various private nooks for residents to have their friends and family visit in privacy and enjoy a cup of tea. The gardens at Greenway Gardens are second to none, the natural fauna and flora that the residents are lucky to have is a real conversation starter.

From , the Government has started to use the STAR RATING system for registered aged care homes (new homes will be allocated a Star Rating after 12 months of operation).
Star Ratings are displayed on the Aged Care Provider Search within the My Aged Care website.
The Star Rating is based upon 5 levels with the middle rating denoting only a minimum baseline of ‘Acceptable’ care quality and services.
The Star Rating System has revealed that 41 % of aged care homes are performing at a 5-star (excellent) or 4-star (good) level.
Star Ratings also reveal that astonishingly 5 % are performing below the minimum standards set, receiving a dismal and disturbing (Improvement Needed) or (Significant Improvement Needed) Star Rating.
We support full public disclosure of those aged care homes that are making the effort to exceed the regulated standards and community expectations.
We also support the naming of aged care homes that do not currently provide quality levels of aged care services to the frail elderly and vulnerable members of our community.
The Star Rating system is a key component of the aim for continuous improvement to our aged care system.
