This experience enables us to supply families with a personalised service that ensures all steps of securing residential aged care are completed in a sensitive, effective, and efficient manner.

Navigating the Aged Care maze

Families tell us that the finding quality aged care for their elderly loved one was like "navigating a maze", but it really doesn't have to be that way.

When our aged care placement consultants help you with aged care placement activities, you will:

  • have a single point of contact for the complete aged care placement process
  • reduce the possibility of mistakes being made
  • save time and effort
  • reduce the level of emotional stress
  • minimise the cost of accommodation
  • make an informed decision

Are you feeling overwhelmed ?

To fully understand the quality of care, accommodation and lifestyle services available you need to complete detailed research and you need time and effort to get that all done. What are the steps required to achieve the best placement for your elderly loved one ?

Expert Guidance and Support

We have been helping families with admission to aged care for many years, and have assisted a large number of families through the process of residential care placement.

Our aged care placement consultants are knowledgable, experienced and understand the emotional strain involved with placing a frail relative into an aged care home.

Our Step-by-Step Process

We have a proven step-by-step process which will help you with the placement, which includes:

  • Collecting and understanding your individual care needs, financial situation, preferred location, and your personal preferences
  • Completing and sending the Centrelink paperwork (Forms SA485 or SA457)
  • Researching and shortlisting appropriate aged care homes
  • Arranging facility visits according to your preferred timetable
  • Preparing all application and pre-admission paperwork
  • Monitoring the applications and advocating priority admission on your behalf
  • Negotiating the residential care fees and charges, specifically the Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) and other service fees (if applicable)
  • Liaising with related service providers, such as My Aged Care, Aged Care Assessors, and hospital discharge coordinators (if applicable)

We offer a personalised service tailored to your unique family requirements and covering all aspects of aged care advice and placement.

Searching for an Aged Care Home for a frail elderly person?

  • Finding your way through the residential aged care maze is not easy and usually stressful
  • With the many new aged care reforms and options to be aware of, it is even more sensible to obtain experienced advice before making a hasty decision
  • Make your task so much easier by having an experienced and dedicated aged care specialist with you for each step through the aged care journey

How do you choose between aged care options?

  • Choosing between the available aged care homes and making the right decision can be daunting
  • What is the quality of care at each home?
  • Are there worthwhile activity programs available?
  • Is the aged care home within the family budget?
  • Should you take a vacancy just because it is available now - or will you regret a hasty decision?

There are many aspects to consider - so choosing the right aged care option can quickly become overwhelming for a beginner or the unwary.

Making sure that the care provider you select is the best local option

Placing your elderly loved one into any aged care option should never be left to chance or done in haste.

We have already completed years of research and have experienced the good and the bad, and have collected the information you need.

We have been through the process many hundreds of times with other families - you can benefit from that experience and knowledge.

Human Rights - Aged Care Act

The Aged Care Act is being rewritten with a focus on Human Rights, reflecting the need for a fundamental overhaul of our Aged Care system. The revised Aged Care Act will place a greater emphasis on the rights and dignity of older people, and will require aged care providers to take a more person-centered, human rights approach to care.

MPIR reducing to 8.34% pa

The Maximum Permissible Interest Rate (MPIR) will reduce to 8.34% pa from

For a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) of $550,000 the equivalent Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) reduces to $125.67 pd ($45,870 pa).

The Reserve Bank has kept the cash rate on hold for a few months, so we are seeing a very small decrease in the MPIR. This could mean that the MPIR has reached its peak and could be on the slide down.

Also from 1st April 2024, the refurbished Daily Accommodation Contribution (DAC) rate of $68.14 means an equivalent Refundable Accommodation Contribution (RAC) of $298,215. In June 2022 the RAC was $544,719, meaning that aged care homes that are “RAD-focused” are now less likely to look at fully supported / partially supported residents if the aged care home has already exceeded their 40% supported ratio, as the RAC has now dropped below $300,000.

The change in the MPIR to 8.34% is welcomed but should have no major impact on residents as they enter an aged care home from

Testimonials

Andrea Lewis

Thanks again for your help in securing the room. We could see the relief in Mum’s face when she arrived at her room. Once she was dressed in street wear, not hospital wear, she seemed more confident and hopefully in time most if not all of the confidence she had before she entered hospital will return.

Karen Di N.

Thank you once again for everything. I am sleeping much better now, not having to worry about my Father's financial situation (at the aged care home) as much. What you have done is give me peace of mind that he can afford the extra odd bill . I will be very happy to recommend your services.

Gwen and Brian Newell

Thank you for the amazing job you've done for us. We cannot express enough what your assistance meant to us. You were a special blessing sent from heaven. Liz, I know we could never have managed without you. Our thanks and love to you both.

We can help you with:

Understanding Options

We research and explain the available options based upon your detailed family needs and requirements. We can explain how aged care financials are calculated so that you are fully informed.

  • How much will care cost?
  • Will we need to sell the home?
  • What refundable deposit is payable?
  • What ongoing fees are payable?
  • Can we afford ongoing expenses?

Arranging Home Care

Whether you have a Home Care Package, NDIS funding or need private home care services - we can arrange home care assistance and supports for you to make sure you remain independent at home for as long as possible.

  • Need maintenance to your home?
  • Need assistance to appointments?
  • Assistance with preparing meals?
  • Need some companionship?

Finding Respite Care

Respite Care can give you the chance to de-stress, restore your physical and mental energy, and keep your life in balance. We can help you to arrange respite in an emergency.
We can also talk to you about local day-care activities that may be available for the person you care for. We can secure the best available respite care placement in your preferred location.

Finding Permanent Care

Whether the person you care for is physically frail, has been diagnosed with dementia or just cannot cope on their own anymore - it may be time to discuss your family needs with one of our aged care specialists. We can secure the best available permanent care placement in your preferred location.

Negotiating Fees

Avoid paying more for residential care than you need to! With occupancy levels at historical lows, Refundable Accommodation Deposits (RAD's) and additional service fees have never been more negotiable. We have been saving money for our family clients for many years. Talk to us if you wish to save on the RAD expenditure.

Completing Forms

We complete all of the necessary Centrelink / DVA forms (SA457 and SA485) and answer any questions about implications for Commonwealth pensions.

We can also advise of strategies when a husband and wife are considering residential care together.
